Electric Bicycle Tax Credit

We are participating in the Department of Revenue's Electric Bicycle Tax Credit program. This program is available to all Colorado residents who can prove residency. The Colorado state e-bike tax credit is available for purchases made between April 1, 2024, and December 31, 2032. Each Colorado resident may get one $450 discount off of a new e-bike each calendar year (Jan 1st - Dec 31st). This discount is applied at the register when buying a new e-bike.  All you need to do to get the discount is to fill out a single page form at checkout and prove residency using either a valid ID or driver's license. If you don't have a current form of identification, there are various different ways you can prove residency. Please give us a call if you have any questions about the program or how you can participate.

$150 rebate to its members for purchasing a new e-bike. This rebate is provided in the form of a discount on your next utility bill. This rebate can be used with the Department of Revenue's Electric Bicycle Tax Credit program for a combined savings of $600.

• Be an MVEA member.
• Purchase a new e-bike.
• Submit your rebate application online within 90 days of the purchase date.
• Provide an itemized sales receipt showing the model number and proof of payment.

 

Policy on Homemade or Converted E-Bikes

At Colorado Springs Bike Shop, the safety of our customers and the integrity of our work are our top priorities. Due to the wide variability in design, components, and build quality, we do not service homemade or personally converted e-bikes.

This includes:

• Bicycles that have been modified with aftermarket e-bike conversion kits.

• E-bikes assembled from non-certified parts or components.

• DIY electric bikes not built or certified by a recognized manufacturer.

Why this policy?

• Many homemade e-bikes lack standardized safety measures, which can pose risks during maintenance and use.

• Unverified electrical systems can create fire hazards or electrical failures.

• Our technicians are trained to work on manufacturer-certified systems to ensure your safety and the reliability of our service.

We are happy to assist you with factory-built e-bikes from recognized brands and manufacturers. If you have any questions about whether your e-bike qualifies for service, please feel free to contact us before bringing it in for service.
